Proposed Rule Changes to Child Care

Proposed Rule Changes to Child Care

The Office of Childhood filed the first series of rule changes with the Secretary of State’s office and JCAR. The rules will be published in the November 15, 2021, edition of the Missouri Register. The proposed rules do not include changes that would impact current day-to-day practices of child care providers or departmental staff. The proposed rules update the department name to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and update outdated terminology and forms within rules.

Drafts of the rule changes are posted on the Office of Childhood website at www.dese.mo.gov/childhood/child-care/rules-laws. For each set of rules, a chart is provided that gives an overview of the proposed changes. There is also a link to a survey where you can submit comments on the proposed rules. This survey is open from October 15, 2021 to December 15, 2021.
