Rise Depaoli, a family child care program in Saline County participated in the NAPSACC (Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment Child Care) project. She was proud of letting go of her old style and being open to healthier snack options and learning new ideas to keep the children moving. She found her new practices have strengthened her program and wishes to do it again.
Rise is one of several programs that have accomplished their physical activity and nutrition goals to earn a $65 Discount School Supply gift card. Child Care Aware® of Missouri is working with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to increase children’s physical activity and nutrition through the NAPSACC project. CCAMO has an opening in the project and would like to support you with strategies and tools to increase children’s physical activity and nutrition within your program.
NAPSACC is an online self-assessment tool created by the University of North Carolina. It looks at best practices for nutrition and physical activity for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
The NAPSACC has seven sections. But as part of the project, we are asking you to complete only one section. Completing a module self-assessment takes about 10-15 minutes. Once you have completed the module, the website helps you set goals for your program that you can personalize. It provides resources and ideas for you to achieve your goals. The attached flyer provides links to additional information on Go NAPSACC.
You will not be doing this alone! Your program will have an assigned Technical Assistance Specialist that will provide technical assistance through FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, or a similar platform. Your TA Specialist will give your program one-on-one support to help you achieve your goals. Once you have achieved two of your goals, you will receive a $65 Discount School Supply gift card.
If you are interested in participating in the project, please contact Lauri Choate, Director of Wellness Initiatives at lauri@mochildcareaware.org or 314-754-1603.
