Social & Emotional Foundations for Learning (SEFL)
Creating a Socially and Emotionally Aware Classroom (SEFL 4)
What does a socially and emotionally aware classroom look like? In this training, we will examine some of the components of a socially and emotionally aware classroom. We will discuss temperament and strategies to engage children. In addition, emotional literacy is key to a socially and emotionally aware classroom. We will define emotional literacy and how to best develop it within your classroom.

Relationships are Key (SEFL 1)
Relationships are the foundation of who we are and our connection to humanity. As infants, our relationships with adults taught us how to interact with others, our perceived value to others, and how to react to stressful situations. Relationships are Key will look at the importance of relationships to young children and how, as educators, we can build and strengthen relationships with the children in our classrooms to form a firm foundation by which all other skills are built.

The Importance of Self Care (SEFL 6)
Caring for and educating young children is very rewarding yet very hard work. Most days, you are exhausted at the end of the day when it is time to take on the responsibilities of your personal life. For all the support and care you give each day to the children and families, you need to care for yourself. You cannot pour into others from an empty cup. During this session, we will look at the importance of self-care and why resilience in adults is key to caring for young children. We will discuss strategies to build your resiliency and keep your cup full to pour into others.

Strong Families, Strong Children (SEFL 3)
In Social and Emotional Foundations for Learning: Strong Families, Strong Children, you will learn: How to define the benefits of strong family relationships and to identify and define each of the 5 Protective Factors.

Guiding Children’s Behavior (EC 5)
Have you ever wondered why children exhibit challenging behaviors? Do you struggle with how to describe the problem-solving process for young children? In Guiding Children’s Behavior, we provide you with three strategies to help alleviate challenging behaviors and to best define positive guidance in your child care program.

Healthy Eating (EC 14)
During this Healthy Eating training educators will learn the role that nutrition plays in promoting wellness in children, be able to identify basic guidelines of nutritious meals. Educators will also learn strategies to promote nutrition and healthy eating practices with families.

Positive Interactions with Children (EC 1)
Does your child care program foster critical and creative thinking? Are you able to identify adult behavior that leads to sensitive, respectful adult-child interactions? Positive Interactions with Children outlines the importance of caring for children based on positive, warm, and nurturing relationships. Support early development and learning by understanding the benefits children receive through positive interactions.

Language & Communication Development (EC 9)
In Language & Communication Development, you will learn: To List the four characteristics of language, how to explain strategies to support language and communication development, and be able to identify adaptations to language and communication development activities and interactions to support diverse needs and abilities.

Physical Development (EC 8)
In Physical Development, you will learn the milestones for fine and gross motor development in children two years old through five years old. This training will provide different ways to maintain a classroom that will enhance fine and gross motor development while identifying adaptations to physical motor activities and interactions to support diverse needs and abilities.

Emergency Planning (EC 19)
Emergency Planning will equip you with the knowledge you need to plan for any type of emergency, including intruders, earthquakes, missing, lost, or abducted children. Discover ways to keep children calm and engaged during an emergency. Set your child care program up for success through emergency planning and by knowing how to outline your emergency procedure when onboarding new staff. Are you prepared?

Promoting Cultural Awareness (EC 17)
When attending Promoting Cultural Awareness, educators will learn to define what influences culture, define the 3 A's of Communication, and how to utilize them in their work with children. We will also be diving into what culturally responsive teaching is and how to apply the principle within the classroom.

Supporting the Development and Well-Being of Infants and Toddlers (IT 5)
How do you affect the healthy brain development of infants and toddlers? This workshop will share the five Rs: how relationships, routines, respect, repetition, and responsive interactions influence a child’s developing brain. Did you know that infants and toddlers are affected by stress too? Learn how you can support the well-being and mental health of these youngest children.

What have the infants or toddlers you work with told you today? Did you know that infants “talk” through crying and other non-verbal communications? While infants and toddlers cannot speak with words, they do communicate in many other ways. Learn how these cues form the foundation of language development. Learn how temperament, challenging behaviors, and cultural traditions can shape how an infant or toddler will communicate. This session will also share how to discover the communication and meaning of behaviors, such as biting and tantrums.
