Helping Children Bounce Back and Thrive
Helping Children Bounce Back and Thrive
Children build resilience through daily challenges and supportive guidance. Simple strategies, like trying again and consistent routines, help them gain confidence, patience, and the ability to thrive.
Resilience is not something children are born with; it is something they learn. Preschoolers face small challenges every day, such as sharing toys, waiting their turn or trying a new activity. Each challenge is an opportunity to build confidence, problem-solving skills and emotional strength.
Educators and caregivers play a key role by offering guidance, modeling calm problem solving, and valuing effort. This shows children that mistakes and setbacks are natural part of learning. Simple strategies can make a big difference, such as encouraging children to try again, labeling feelings, practicing deep breathing and providing consistent routines, helping children feel safe and capable. Over time, these experiences build patience, grit and the confidence to tackle bigger challenges.
When we help young children develop resilience, we support a lifelong skill—the ability to adapt, bounce back and thrive in school and beyond. Click here for more information on the importance of promoting resilience in young children.
