Child Care Aware® of Missouri is currently partnering with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to support you with strategies and tools to increase children’s physical activity and nutrition. It is a small project that does not require a lot of time but can produce large results for the children and families in your program.
We will utilize the online self-assessment tool created by the University of North Carolina, called the NAPSACC (Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment Child Care). It looks at best practices for nutrition and physical activity for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
The NAPSACC has seven sections. But as part of the project, we are asking you to complete only one section. Completing a module self-assessment takes about 10-15 minutes. Once you have completed the module, the website helps you set goals for your program that you can personalize. It is packed with resources and ideas for you to achieve your goals, including new recipes! For additional information on Go NAPSACC:
This is not something you would be working on alone. Your program will have an assigned Technical Assistance Specialist that will provide technical assistance through FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, or a similar platform. Your TA Specialist will give your program one-on-one support to help you achieve your goals. Once you have achieved two of your goals, you will receive a $65 Discount School Supply gift card.
If you are interested in participating in the project, please contact Lauri Choate, Director of Wellness Initiatives at lauri@mochildcareaware.org or 314-754-1603.
