Farm to Preschool is a Win

Missouri farm-to-school and early childhood education state agencies will host three more face-to-face meetings on July 18-20. The meetings held last month in Springfield, St. Louis, and Kennett provided opportunities to discuss the barriers and strategies for Missouri becoming the leader in Farm to Preschool. These meetings offered great opportunities to network, receive new information, and giveaways. Meetings will be held:

  • July 18 in St. Joseph
  • July 19 in Kirksville
  • July 20 in Columbia

Farm to Preschool is where child care centers and family child care programs use local farmers to serve regionally grown food to the children within their facilities. Fresh fruits and vegetables can be purchased directly from a farmer or local community farmer's market. This supports other small businesses within the community and, when combined with offering hands-on activities, such as gardening, visits to farms, and culinary activities, supports children's enthusiasm to try new foods. It's a win for everyone!

Don't miss this! It is a key event to contribute to the discussion to increase opportunities for farmers and early childhood programs to collaborate to provide healthier environments for young children.
