Are You Tired of Serving the Same Thing?

Are You Tired of Serving the Same Thing?

Child Care Aware® of Missouri is currently partnering with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to support you with strategies and tools to increase children’s physical activity and nutrition. It is a small project that does not require a lot of time but can produce large results for the children and families in your program.

We will utilize the online self-assessment tool created by the University of North Carolina, the NAPSACC (Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment Child Care). It looks at best practices for nutrition and physical activity for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

The NAPSACC has seven sections. But as part of the project, we are asking you to complete only one section. Completing a module self-assessment takes about 10-15 minutes. Once you have completed the module, the website helps you set goals for your program that you can personalize. It is packed with resources and ideas to achieve your goals, including new ideas and easy recipes to energize your snack and meal menus!

Each program will have an assigned Technical Assistance Specialist that will provide technical assistance through FaceTime, Zoom, Skype or similar platforms. Your TA Specialist will give your program one-on-one support to help you achieve your goals. Once you have achieved two of your goals, you will receive a Kaplan gift card.

Brandy Bumphrey, the owner of Country Kids Learning Center in Savanah, loved the resources she received to create healthier menus. She supported the staff and children to try new foods that are now part of their daily menus.
