Social & Emotional Foundations for Learning (SEFL)

The Importance of Self Care (SEFL 6)

Caring for and educating young children is very rewarding yet very hard work. Most days, you are exhausted at the end of the day when it is time to take on the responsibilities of your personal life. For all the support and care you give each day to the children and families, you need to care for yourself. You cannot pour into others from an empty cup. During this session, we will look at the importance of self-care and why resilience in adults is key to caring for young children. We will discuss strategies to build your resiliency and keep your cup full to pour into others.

Strong Family, Strong Children (SEFL 3)

In Social and Emotional Foundations for Learning: Strong Families, Strong Children, you will learn: How to define the benefits of strong family relationships and to identify and define each of the 5 Protective Factors.

Basic Knowledge Curriculum: Early Childhood (BKC EC)

Guiding Children’s Behavior (EC 5)

In Child Safety & Routine Care, you will learn: The steps in proper handwashing; To identify the steps in proper diapering procedure; How to identify readiness signs of toilet learning; The definition of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and identify behaviors that increase the risk of it; The elements and be able to discuss the safe sleep policy.

Promoting Cultural Awareness (EC 17)

When attending Promoting Cultural Awareness, educators will learn to define what influences culture, define the 3 A's of Communication, and how to utilize them in their work with children. We will also be diving into what culturally responsive teaching is and how to apply the principle within the classroom.

Emergency Planning (EC 19)

Emergency Planning will equip you with the knowledge you need to plan for any type of emergency, including intruders, earthquakes, missing, lost, or abducted children. Discover ways to keep children calm and engaged during an emergency. Set your child care program up for success through emergency planning and by knowing how to outline your emergency procedure when onboarding new staff. Are you prepared?

Safe Environments (EC 4)

We know one of your top priorities is safety for all children in your care. Proper documentation, policies, and procedures are essential to ensure safety. How often do you practice safety drills? Routines, Rituals, & Schedules (EC 7)

Why is it important to have a daily schedule? How do routines and rituals fit into your schedule? By understanding the importance of the child’s needs and interests when developing a daily schedule, transitions and activities are much easier. There are key differences between routines, rituals, and schedules that are important for each child and that support social and emotional development. Fit us in your schedule and join us for Routines, Rituals, & Schedules!

Playing with a Purpose (EC 6)

Play is learning for everyone. A child’s day-to-day life is centered around play. Do you find yourself wondering why play is so important to a child’s development? Different types of play offer diverse developmental benefits to each child. Exercise developmentally appropriate practices by identifying different ways to support play in your classroom, and to help each child meet challenging and achievable learning goals through Playing with a Purpose.

What does providing successful supervision look like in your classroom? In part 2 of Supervision of Young Children, we will examine the keys to successful supervision and learn to identify strategies for successful supervision of young children. Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Infants and Toddlers (IT 1)

Are you delivering high-quality infant and toddler care in your classroom, center, or family child care home? How do you know? From this workshop, you will learn the importance of developmentally appropriate practices with infants and toddlers and the ten components related to high-quality child care. You will learn how to reinforce the healthy development of infants and toddlers through consistent routines, primary caregivers, and responsive care. After this workshop, you will know what it means to provide high-quality, inclusive care for our youngest children.
