Subsidy Waitlist: What Providers Should Know

Written by Child Care Aware® of Missouri | Feb 10, 2026 4:13:39 AM

Beginning March 1, Missouri will implement a child care subsidy waitlist for new Child Care subsidy applications. Families who are currently approved and actively receiving child care subsidy will not be subject to the waitlist as long as their case remains active. With the waitlist in place, it is critical that families renew their subsidy on time. If a family misses their renewal deadline and their subsidy closes, they will be placed on the waitlist.

Simply put, a missed renewal could result in a disruption of benefits and a disruption in child care.

What Providers Can Do to Help

Child care providers play an important role in helping families stay on track. You can support the families you serve by reminding them to renew on time.

Providers can also check their provider portal and sort families by expiration date to see which authorizations are coming up for renewal. This allows you to proactively notify families before their benefits expire.
